论文摘要：	In this paper we explore at length how economic growth and the nature of the growth affect China’s rural poverty incidence rate. We argue that economic growth has been playing as the first power of alleviating poverty over the past two decades, but in the meanwhile growth by itself cannot guarantee the eventual success of poverty reduction. Both the growth rate and the nature of the growth, such as income distribution and agricultural development, determine how and how much the poverty incidence rate will be reduced. The empirical results by using cross provincial panel data also strongly support our viewpoints.
